For Cesário Jesus, the Sado has always been a way of life. Born into a family of fishermen in Carrasqueira, he founded Subida do Sado in 2006. Ricardo Urien joined him in 2020, bringing his own experience of life at sea.

Together, they share the places, stories and changing landscapes that make this stretch of water their home.

Where do the trips start?

All three routes leave from Cais Palafítico da Carrasqueira, near Comporta. We confirm the meeting arrangements when organising your trip.

Why can’t I choose a departure time?

Our boat leaves the harbour at high tide. The time changes each day, so we confirm it with you after you request a date.

Can a smaller group join?

Departures operate with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 guests. If there are fewer of you, ask us about joining a departure. Your request does not guarantee a place.

Will we see wildlife?

Flamingos may be seen on the Sado depending on the season. Dolphins may be seen on the Arrábida route. These are wild animals, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.

What about children, accessibility or cancellations?

Please tell us your children’s ages and any access needs before booking. We will confirm suitability, the applicable child price and cancellation arrangements directly with you.
